To apply for membership you must be of legal age and be a citizen of Canada or have landed immigrant status or have a legal permit to work in Canada. An applicant seeking membership in the Local must also have a minimum of 120 days worked within the craft to which they are applying, along with the mandatory department requirements.
You are only permitted to apply to one category at any given time. Once your application has been submitted, it will be presented to the screening committee for consideration. You will be notified of the results of the screening board recommendations once they have been presented at the General Membership meeting for balloting.
On the next screen you will be asked to provide several documents, including a formal letter of intent, an up-to-date resume, a photograph (head and shoulders shot of reasonable quality), and three or more signed letters of recommendation (not form letters) from members in the department to which you are applying. Please also review your certifications and ensure that the list is complete and that nothing is expired.
